South African Passports
Applicants applying for first adult passport (i.e. applicants 16 years old or turning 16) must ALSO apply for an ID book along with the passport or before applying for the passport.
As per DHA Circular No. 1 of 2022 third party collection of PASSPORTS/TRAVEL DOCUMENTS is strictly prohibited. If applying for a passport within South Africa, the DHA Office where the application is lodged, cannot redirect the passport for dispatch to the Mission.
It takes SIX TO TWELVE MONTHS to process new South African documents. To ensure that applicants receive their documents on time, they are advised to please apply at least TWELVE months before expiry of current passports to avoid any delays. Duly completed child passport applications can be mailed to the Mission via courier services. There is no need to visit the Mission for purposes of submitting child passport applications (persons under the age of 16). A duly completed BI-73 form, signed by a Justice of Peace will be accepted by the Mission.
Use BLACK ink only. Do Not Use Tippex or White-out. The application will be rejected by the DHA.

Payments:
Kindly take note that payments can only be made by way of cash on the day of your visit or EFT at least two business days before your visit to the Mission. The following details must be used as a reference for your EFT payment: Full name, nature of service required and online bank transfer information. Avoid bringing big notes as the Mission may experience challenges changing the money.
